Project Staff

Joe Reichle, Ph.D., Co-Principal Investigator, is a Professor in the Department of
Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Reichle has served as the co-principal investigator on a federally sponsored leadership training grant. That project provides training to doctoral and postdoctoral candidates in methods of providing positive behavioral support to persons with developmental disabilities who engage in problem behavior.
His primary areas of research and his teaching focus on implementing augmentative communication systems and providing positive behavioral support for persons with problem behavior. In addition to his teaching and research responsibilities, Dr. Reichle serves as a reviewer for numerous scholarly journals and is a former Associate Editor of the Journal of the Association for Persons with Severe Handicaps.

Leanne Johnson is a Research Associate for CEED and the Department of Educational Psychology. She is the coordinator of the Preventing Challenging Behavior in Rural Education Settings project, the Addressing the Needs of Young Children Who Engage in Challenging Behaviors project, and the Behavior Research Center. LeAnne received her M.Ed. in Special Education from Vanderbilt University before moving to Minnesota to work as an elementary special education teacher. LeAnne then received her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Minnesota. LeAnne has been actively involved in the licensure program for graduate students seeking special education teaching licensure in the area of emotional/behavioral disorders as well as various research and training projects focused on challenging behavior. Her current research interests include examinations of the early development of antisocial and prosocial behavior as well as examinations of gender as it relates to the development and persistence of antisocial behavior across developmental stages.
Mary McEvoy Memorial Page
Mary McEvoy, Ph.D., Co-Principal Investigator, was Professor and Chair in Educational Psychology at the University of Minnesota. She served as a consultant to the States of Tennessee and Minnesota on inclusion and challenging behavior issues and worked cooperatively with local education agencies to promote the integration of children with and without disabilities. Dr. McEvoy authored and co-authored a number of publications related to challenging behavior and procedures for promoting social interaction in least restrictive environments, and developed a position statement on discipline for the International Division on Early Childhood (DEC).

Karen Anderson is Executive Administrative Specialist and serves as webmaster for the Preschool Behavior Project. Karen has worked at the University of Minnesota since 1994 and also provided support for the original Outreach replication grant that funded the generation of materials which this site is now disseminating.
